Nicholas Kwan, DPT 2019, was inspired to recap the April 2 White Coat ceremony in a poem:
We had family and friends coming from both near and far
Travelling by plane, train, ferries, or cars
8 months since school started, no one could believe
It was finally time for our white coat ceremony!
Every DPT1 was impeccably dressed
Strutting their stuff in their Sunday best.
The guys were looking fly, in their festive bowties
The ladies all dressed so chic
Their eyebrows were def’ on fleek.
Dr. Krasinski welcomed us all, and introduced the professors who’ve inspired us all.
But lest we forget that standing ovation
For our favorite anatomy man who needs no explanation
Dr. E and his lovely wife, who made the long drive
To celebrate with us, to boogie and jive!
The keynote speaker spoke for a spell
Roger Herr inspired us, gave advice as well
He brought up responsibility, emphasized integrity
Harped on the importance of treating with empathy
There were great speeches given, slideshows shown
Morgan reminded us, to make this journey our own.
We were able to reflect on how much we have grown.
While our families looked upon us,
Admiring the harvest of the seeds they have sown.
One by one, we strode across the stage
White coats were donned; wide smiles we gave.
But enough with the serious stuff, finish the ceremony
Let’s move to the reception, let’s bask in revelry!
We met our friends’ friends, our friends met the family
We stood in place countless times, always smiling cheerily.
This day marked the beginning of our clinical journey
So here’s to the white coat ceremony!
